Apple Fun (as promised) in the Form of a Healthy Dessert?! Absolutley!

Remember those apples I talked about a couple of posts ago? Well my collection grew and I finally settled on the perfect use for these sweet tarts:

I'm talking apple crisp people! An autumn time favorite in my family. But this isn't your mother's apple crisp (at least not my mothers). This sassy little crisp has had a much needed makeover, slimming down on the sugar, bulking up on the health all while retaining that same familiar flavor.

No bake, no added sugar, vegan and gluten free not to mention an instant people pleaser :) This my friends, is a dessert you can feel good about eating for breakfast (and lunch... and dinner in my case bahaha)

Get ready for a tasty fall treat that's breeze to throw together!

Spiced Raw Crab Apple Crisp: (serves 6)
  • 8-10 crab apples (or 4 normal sized apples of your choosing)
  • 1/2c of fresh squeezed orange juice (1 large orange or two small)
  • 1/2t cinnamon (or to taste)
  • 1/2t pumpkin pie spice (optional)
  • 1/3c walnuts
  • 1/3c pecans
  • 1/3c raw sunflower seeds
  • 3/4c golden raisins (sub. regular raisins if you dont have golden on hand)
  • 1/4c unsweetened coconut flakes
  • 1/2t cinnamon
  • 1/2t pumpkin pie spice (optional)
Slice apples thin (around 1/4" inch) and toss with orange juice, 1/2 cinnamon, and 1/2 pumpkin pie spice. Set Aside.

In a food processor, pulse together remaining ingredients until it resembles a crumbled topping.

place apple slices in the bottom of a pie pan and sprinkle crumble topping over the top.

Easy right?
